Journal 4

Nick starts to tell you about his chart he has of dates of people who have gone to Gatsby’s parties. Nick tells us about when Gatsby took him to lunch in New York. Nick learns about Gatsby and tells him he went to Oxford and about how he is related to people in the west and how they are dead and that’s how he got all his money. Gatsby then shows him the proof he has to show that he went to Oxford and try to back up his stories. When Gatsby and Nick are eating lunch Meyer Wolfsheim shows up and he and Gatsby talk about the memories from eating lunch at the restaurant next store. Then we find out that Mr. Wolfsheim is a gambler who fixed the 1919 World Series. Then Mr. Wolfsheim left and Nick introduced Gatsby to Daisy and her husband, Tom. After Gatsby was introduced he left because he couldn’t stand seeing Daisy with another guy. Then we’re told about Nick and his lunch with Jordan and she says how Gatsby told her the story of him and Daisy, and that He bought his house because its across from Daisy’s house and he throws the parties so one day she will hopefully stop by. Then she tells him that Gatsby wants him to invited Daisy over for tea so he can see her.
Foreshadow: Nick describes Gatsby’s car and it foreshadows that his car will get in a crash.
Bad drivers come up again.
